PARENTS AND CHILDREN CENTRE

At the Restos du Cœur, we are convinced that every child deserves to live with dignity. Designed to support and assist the most underprivileged parents in their daily lives, the Parents/Children Area is a drop-in centre that offers invaluable help through various services. However, some Restos do not have this service on site, but work closely with other local associations. 

The Parents/Children Area provides a range of services aimed at easing the daily lives of parents and offering them tangible support. Here are just some of the aids we provide:

  • Preparation of a maternity kit
    Preparing for the arrival of a newborn can be a source of stress for parents. Our service helps them put together their maternity kit that provides everything necessary to welcome their baby under optimal conditions.
     
  • Distribution of special baby milk and other essentials
    We provide special baby milk, nappies, and essential foods such as fruits and biscuits. These donations are crucial to ensure the health and well-being of the little ones.
     
  • Children’s clothing
    Children grow quickly, and their clothes need to be renewed regularly. At the Parents/Children Area, we distribute clothing for children of all ages, helping to ease family expenses.
     
  • Cooperation with ONE and family planning
    To offer comprehensive support, we work closely with the Office de la Naissance et de l’Enfance (ONE) [Office of Birth and Childhood] and family planning services. These cooperative arrangements enable us to provide comprehensive support tailored to the specific needs of families.

  • School supplies for a successful start of the new school year
    Every year, we provide a pack of school supplies for the most underprivileged children. Because education is priceless, we ensure that each child is well-equipped to get the year off to a fair start with peace of mind.

  • School meals for children in need
    We know how important it is for a child to get a balanced meal, especially during the school year. We therefore distribute school meals and snacks for children in need to make sure that no student goes through the day on an empty stomach.
     
  • Bonding through reading
    Books are a marvellous tool for forging bonds between parents and children. Through reading activities, we encourage these precious moments of sharing and exchange, which are essential for the development of children. 

We receive very few donations from companies for this service, so we are obliged to buy baby milk and nappies.
