Summer holidays exist. Poverty holidays do not.

June 2025

July and August are months of holidays, travel, and unwinding. But for many of the people we support daily, summer does not rhyme with respite.

While some are packing their suitcases, others are struggling to fill their fridge.

When schools close, some families lose a daily meal for their children.

And as temperatures rise, homeless individuals start looking for shade, water, and rest.

Heatwaves are particularly tough on people without shelter, who have no cool spaces and limited access to hydration or medical care.

We remain committed

At the Restos du Cœur of Belgium, summer does not affect our dedication:

  • Despite the summer closure, we do everything possible to plan ahead and continue to distribute meals and food parcels.
  • We prepare for the new school year.
  • We stand by the most vulnerable, including those living on the streets.

But summer is also a double-edged season. Donations often decline, even though the needs remain high.

Your help can make a difference

➡️ A donation, even small, helps fund meals and food parcels.

➡️ A little of your time, as a volunteer, can ease the burden on our teams.

➡️ A simple share on social media can raise awareness among those around you.

Solidarity knows no season.

This summer let’s stand together to help everyone get through this time with greater ease, dignity, and human warmth.
