Solidarity in action: a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated partners

In 2024, the Restos du Cœur of Belgium distributed 1,631,189 meals and food parcels -- a figure that highlights the growing scale of food insecurity in our country. According to data from Statbel, more than 2.1 million Belgians are now at risk of poverty or social exclusion, representing 18.2% of the population. Faced with this alarming reality, our commitment to supporting the most vulnerable continues to strengthen.

With this in mind, our major Annual Food Collection Drive was conducted on 7 and 8 March aiming to collect at least 30,000 kg of foodstuffs so as to respond to the emergency. Despite the mobilisation of many volunteers and donors, the target was unfortunately not reached, making the support of our partners more essential than ever.

Fortunately, solidarity continues to manifest itself through concrete actions from many companies and organizations. Spadel generously provided a large quantity of drinking water, an essential item for our beneficiaries. Herta showed its support by donating a variety of cold cuts, helping to enrich the meals we distribute. Jacquet contributed to ensuring a daily nutritional foundation by supplying various types of bread. Soubry, a loyal partner for many years, regularly renews its commitment by donating pasta — a staple food item in our distributions.

These donations are far more than just food items. They symbolise a strong commitment to building a more united and inclusive society. These acts of generosity enable us to continue to provide quality meals and to meet the basic needs of those who rely on us.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who takes part in this chain of solidarity. Every contribution, whether material or financial, makes a real difference in the lives of many people facing hardship. Without these donations of goods, it would be much more difficult to carry out our mission of food aid, and we are particularly short of fresh products such as fruit, vegetables, and meat at present. We encourage all companies, organisations, and individuals to join this movement of generosity. Together, we can fight against social exclusion and help ensure a fairer future for all.
