More and more meals are being distributed

October 2023

The 20th Resto du Coeur opened its doors this past June in Mariembourg, a region where food aid is virtually non-existent. It took only a few months for the Mariembourg Resto du Coeur to reach full capacity for the 4 services it provides. This underscores the scale of the demand and the need to be present everywhere on the ground.

816,832 meals distributed in 6 months... an unprecedented record!

The figures for the first half of 2023 show a 20% increase in the number of meals distributed compared with the first half of 2022. This is a significant increase, but when you consider no fewer than 670,000 meals were distributed in 2019, we can see the full extent of the increase (by way of reminder, 2019 was the benchmark year before the various successive crises).

  • 2019 : 670,000 meals
  • 2020 : 1,084,917 meals
  • 2021 : 1,350,871 meals
  • 2022 : 1,367,817 meals
  • 2023: towards a new and dismaying record????

The Resto du Coeur are not rejoicing in seeing their figures increase. People don't come to the Resto du Coeur for pleasure. They come because they are in need, because they're hungry and cold.

The teams are adapting, reorganising day in and day out, seeking and finding solutions. They react instantly to unforeseen circumstances so as not to leave anyone behind. Giving up is not in their DNA.

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all those who give their time and support. Without them, none of this would be possible. Any support, large or small, helps us to continue to exist. Help our beneficiaries. Help us!
