Everything we accomplished in 2024
June 2025
We continue to fight against poverty and uphold the dignity of all each and every day, thanks to the solidarity of our employees, donors, partners, and volunteers. The year 2024 was marked by significant challenges, but above all, by numerous human victories. Here is a look at our key accomplishments.
A national food collection drive that made a difference
In March 2024, the national food collection drive brought in 26,434 kg of essential products. These supplies were used for meals or distributed in food parcels to meet the growing needs of beneficiaries -- a wave of generosity that underscores just how vital mutual aid remains.
School kits to support children in need
To ensure every child starts the school year in good conditions, 3,166 school supply kits were distributed across various Restos du Cœur. The purpose of this initiative is to reduce inequality from an early age and to promote educational inclusion.
Making the holidays warmer for everyone
The end-of-year holidays can be a time of loneliness for many. That’s why 8,210 festive meals were offered to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere -- a precious moment to rebuild connections and restore dignity, even if just for the time of a meal.
Solidarity logistics on a large scale
In 2024, the Restos du Cœur of Belgium Federation processed 1,492,191 kg of goods -- either purchased or received as donations -- and covered 143,655 km to ensure their distribution across 21 Restos du Cœur. Coordination efforts like these are essential to keeping the entire network running smoothly.
At the same time, we ensure that every euro is used responsibly.
Our General administrative costs remains below the 4% mark, which means that the vast majority of resources are directly invested in operations in the field.
A growing number of meals distributed
With precarious situations becoming increasingly common, 1,631,189 meals and food parcels were distributed last year in the various Restos du Cœur. Behind this figure are faces, life stories, and above all, a human response to a social emergency.
Concrete investments in the field
Last year, nearly €130,000 in subsidies were granted to several Restos du Cœur to support local projects, e.g. to purchase professional kitchen equipment, improve energy efficiency, install cold storage rooms, and enhance the infrastructure and facilities. These investments make it possible to welcome the beneficiaries better, improve working conditions, and reduce energy costs in the long run.
A commitment that continues
Many challenges continue, but mobilisation persists. Every act of solidarity matters -- whether from a volunteer, a neighbour, a company, or an ordinary citizen. Together, the Restos du Cœur pursue their mission with determination: providing help, support, dignity, and warmth to those who need it most -- those whose voices are no longer heard.
