"A Festive Menu for All": 7,273 Menus Distributed Thanks to Solidarity
January 2026
The Resto du Cœur of Belgium Federation was once again able to offer Festive Set Menus for the year-end holidays to those supported by the Restos du Cœur.
This year, 7,273 set menus were distributed to beneficiaries of the participating Restos du Cœur.
Financed by the Federation and prepared by a caterer, these set menus were handed out to be taken home and enjoyed there, enabling many individuals and families to mark this special time of year despite often difficult circumstances.
The Restos du Cœur ensured distribution within the planned timeframe.
For those going through difficult times, these set menus mean far more than just food on the table. They provide tangible support at a time of year when financial difficulties, isolation and sacrifices often weigh more heavily.
As Nathalie, who lives alone, confides:
“The end-of-year meal that the Resto du Cœur provide is a real feast for me. As it’s the end of the month, things get very complicated, and this good meal really comes at the right moment.”
Muriel, who is also supported by the Restos du Cœur, highlights the importance of this help in her daily life:
“The meals and food parcels we receive help us enormously to get through the month. And thanks to this Festive Menu, I can, each year, think about giving my son a small present for this very special evening.”
This initiative takes place in a demanding social context. The Restos du Cœur are witnessing an increase in needs and the arrival of new profiles of people in difficulty across Belgium. Uncertainties linked to socio-economic developments and forthcoming measures raise fears of greater pressure on the most vulnerable groups, as well as on the associations that support them.
In this context, the Federation and the Restos du Cœur continue their commitment throughout the year, built around four complementary pillars: food aid, educational support, housing assistance and healthcare support. These are concrete responses to a form of poverty that is evolving and spreading.
The Resto du Cœur of Belgium Federation wishes to extend warm thanks to all donors whose support made this initiative possible, as well as the teams in each Resto du Cœur for organising and distributing the menus in the different centres.
