2025: A Year of Solidarity in the Face of Persistent Emergency

February 2026

In 2025, the Restos du Cœur of Belgium distributed 1.569.180 meals and parcels -- a figure that reflects an entire year of welcome, take‑away meals, and prepared parcels, but also presence and attentive listening for all those who step through the doors of a Resto du Cœur.

The food emergency remained very real throughout the year. We continued to support isolated individuals, families, older people, and students, but also workers whose wages no longer suffice. For many, food aid is no longer occasional: it has become a regular point of reference to help them make it to the end of the month, when charges accumulate, when expected or unexpected bills arrive, when rent is too heavy, or when illness or a life accident strikes.

In this context, the work of the Restos du Cœur of Belgium continued day in and day out across all twenty-one such facilities, built around four pillars: food aid, educational support, housing assistance, and healthcare support, because precariousness does not stop at the plate. It also affects health, housing, school, and everything that helps maintain a minimum level of stability.

The year 2025 was also marked by constant pressure on resources: more uncertain supplies, stocks that were at times difficult to replenish, and needs that remained high. This tension feeds a concern for the future: 2026 begins with uncertainties and decisions that may weaken the ability of associations to respond to the emergency even further.

This report is, above all, the result of a collective commitment. Our thanks go to the local teams, volunteers, partners, and all those who support us. Thanks to each of them, solidarity remains possible, tangibly, every single day.

If you would like to help us, you can do so in your own way: by making a donation, by sharing our work, or by joining us in our efforts.
